Whistle for Willie

We are working on possessive apostrophes and commas in a list for grammar. We took the opportunity with the cute story of "Whistle for Willie" to practice this grammar skill.  The students used Ezra Jack Keats art work from the story and construction paper to create the characters from the story.  We later wrote about them using the apostrophes in the work.  The children were very creative.  I gave no instructions. They just created!  They were so engaged in this and excited to write about Willie and Peter.
