Science Meets Music- Arc Attack

Lightning bolts were in the theater! Arc Attack is a group of people showing us awesome science and music. Their show was loud! The lightning was really cool when they controlled it with the guitar. They had a robot. He played the drums for the band. They built the robot and the tesla coils in their garage. The lightning came from the tesla coils. It had a a small, sharp metal tube, that the lightning came out of. One of the men got in the middle of the tesla coils and lightning touched him. He had a metal suit and rubber shoes on that protected him. Everyone was excited when they played music. It was like a concert. We screamed and shouted to the music.

At the end the of the show the men answered our school's questions. We like the Smoot theater. The theater is classy. It has a fancy chandelier. We really were glad we got to go to this wonderful show.

A Fun Day with COSI Science

A Fun Day with COSI
Science

We learned about weather today. We saw a scientist do some experiments. He created lightning. He made a cloud with water and air pressure. He added hot air into a balloon and it went up into the air. He pulled the balloon down and wore it like a hat. He looked funny! We learned that dust makes raindrops up in the sky. He put hot air in a Coke can and he put that in ice cold water. The can got crushed. The air outside the can crushed it. COSI did the same experiment with a barrel. The barrel was put in ice water and in 30 seconds it was crushed. COSI sent the crushed barrel to us so we could see it.

We also got to do fun science activities. We went to stations and played and learned. We did almost all the stations. We got to do a lot of things we had never done before. Here is a list of the stations we did today.

Weather Activity Stations List

Air Pressure Sleeve

Pump Up a Cloud

High and Low Front Tubes

Cloud Scavenger Hunt

Wind Current Tubes

Learned About Storms

Strong Man Vacuum Pull

Weather Map Station

Weather Card Station

Wind Speed Data Collection Station

We really had fun!

Talking About First, Next, and Last

First, we came in and sat in the hallway and read at McKinley School. Next, we came into the classroom and read books with our friends. Then, we went to stations and met with the teacher. Today we went to the computer lab and then to lunch. Last, we went to the gym and played games. We went outside to play at recess. We read to someone after recess and it was fun! Soon we will pack up and go home.
