Friday Reading

Every Friday we read.  It is a fun routine.  We have tests every Friday.  After the tests we read quietly to ourselves.  First,  we read for a short amount of time.  Next, we got better at reading quietly.  Now we have our reading stamina up to 49 minutes.  We feel really good and happy about that!

A Report About Ben Franklin

Benjamin Franklin was born January 17, 1706. Benjamin Franklin had a wife and 3 children. One child died at the age of 4 from smallpox. Ben also had a dog. He lived until 1790. He was 84. He died because his lungs weren't working correctly.

He liked to dream. He had ideas and made things. He invented bifocal glasses. He invented a lightning rod. He invented the Franklin Stove. It was smaller and gave off more heat than other heaters. He flew a kite and it pulled him in the water. He found out that lightning was electricity. Throughout his life he was always curious!

February Book Recommendations

The class picked their favorite book from their "Read to Self" book bags they keep at their desk. They had to share why they were recommending the book. We added the books to our "Featured Books" shelf for everyone to enjoy.
