I was walking by our Title 1 Intervention teacher's bulletin board and just had to stop. I spotted 2 of my previous student's work posted. I was impressed with what I read and wanted to share it on my blog. Good work Asire and Ben! I also realized that the "web" in the middle of the board was some of my current student's work that they have been learning about during intervention! What a good job everyone is doing for Mrs. DeWees!

New Buddy Reading Books
I was at Sam's Club last week and found these easy reader book packs. I knew I needed to purchase 2 of each set since my class is really enjoying Buddy Reading this year. They were so excited when I showed them. I had my helper and friends sort and place them in our buddy reading tub. It has been a busy spot lately!

Record Everything App
I taught two of my readers how to use this great app. They created the sight word movie for the rest of the class. I think they did a great job for their first time working with the app. I hope to be able to teach the other students how to use this app to record some of their work.

Putting Numbers Into Order to 50
We are working on number order, counting to 120, recognizing numbers to 100, and adding 10 combinations. We have been busy mastering these math concepts and skills. We have been working out in the hallway with our long number trains up to 50. For some reason the application I used did not record the sound and put white space in between the shots. Oh well, that is technology sometimes for you!

My intervention groups and class are using this app to help with our 10 Combination fluency. I really like how it helps the children see the combinations.

Friends of 10 Song
We are learning the combinations that add up to 10. We call them the friends of 10. We are singing a song to the tune of "10 Little Indians" to help us remember these friends of 10. We are writing them, using 10 frames, games with friends, ipad app games, whiteboard games and teaching time to master these "Friends of 10." Becoming fluent with these number sentences will help us all year long.

The Meaning of = Equals
We are working on understanding the abstract concept of = in math. We have learned a simple song and created a chart of statements that are equal.

Nouns Are Everywhere
We have been working on identifying nouns around us and in literature.
We have been reading Elephant and Piggie stories so we decided to draw
Piggie. We added labels to the picture and named the noun parts we
added to our illustration. We ended up with Piggies of all shapes and
sizes but all the nouns were labeled!
