Multicultural Week Africa

We love Africa!  There are lots and lots of animals in Africa! Some of the animals are really pretty and colorful.  There are some big animals in Africa like elephants and giraffes. There are boa constrictor snakes there also. In some parts of Africa there is not much water.   There are 2 deserts in Africa. The deserts have lots of sand.  The desert is really, really hot and dry.  The Sahara Desert is as big as the United States.  There is an island surrounded by water called Madagascar.  Madagascar is the largest island in the world.  There are  a lot of people living in Africa. Africa is really cool!

The Big Hail Storm!

We had a hail storm last night. M said the hail came down everywhere and covered the ground.  T thought the hail looked like white flowers growing in the grass.  D said he thought the hail looked like snow on the ground.  E said the hail felt like balls of ice.  It was a very loud storm.  The hailstones were very big.  They even broke a window by A’s bed.  The hail also damaged E’s roof.  The hail made it hard to drive.  D said he got out of his car and was hit by the hail.  The storm damaged C’s car. The storm knocked out some people’s electric power.  There was so much water coming down in the storm that it almost flooded J’s basement.  Roads were covered with water. The radio issued a “severe storm” alert.  There were a lot of strong winds with this storm.  The storm lasted quite a long time but we were all safe.

Bowling Trip

We got to go bowling because we earned the privilege by not getting too many red notes, too many absences, or too many tardies. We went on a bus to the bowling alley. First, we got bowling shoes. After we got bowling shoes, we went to the lanes to bowl. Next, we grabbed a ball. Then, we rolled the ball and tried to hit the pins. The computer there kept us going in turns. It also kept our scores. We feel very good about the trip. It was fun!

Special Guests Express Themselves Through Music

This post will be edited by the class tomorrow! We will add details to the glog in a shared writing time.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss was the best author for kids.  He made really good books. Some of his books were funny.   He would have been 107 years old on his birthday this year. At our school we got to dress up for Dr. Seuss' birthday.

Friday Reading

Every Friday we read.  It is a fun routine.  We have tests every Friday.  After the tests we read quietly to ourselves.  First,  we read for a short amount of time.  Next, we got better at reading quietly.  Now we have our reading stamina up to 49 minutes.  We feel really good and happy about that!
